Respect
A.K.A. - The number one rule of the classroom
This includes but not limited to: your teacher, your classmates, your classroom, yourself.
Other Noteworthy Rules & Expectations...
Integrity: The work you turn in must be your own.
Attend Class: We will be doing productive work everyday!
Be on Time: Be in your seat when the bell rings. Detentions will be given to those who are out of their seat when class begins.
Water Only Please: Food is not allowed except when earned by classroom points.
ASSIGNMENTS
For each unit, you will create a Field Journal by using the pocket folder mandatory for this class. Field Journals will be turned in at the end of each unit. Each page in your journal is worth 10 points! Keep track of your papers and keep them in order.
While most assignments will be a part of your Field Journal, some assignments will be turned into the turn in baskets in the back of the classroom. I will always let you know where to put each assignment when finished.
Homework
With the exception of projects or longer assignments, homework will mostly consist of any work you did not complete in class.
Instead of spending time doing social studies homework, spend time doing things that are proven to promote student success in and out of the classroom. Eat dinner as a family, go for a walk, play outside, attend extracurricular events together, and try to get to bed early.
HW will always be posted in 2 different places:
1. On the Daily Agenda board in the front of the classroom.
2. On the Daily Agenda page of this website.
While You Were Out
If you are sick, you DID miss something :) Please check the "Daily Agenda" page to keep up with the class.
If you miss class for choir, band, sports etc, it is your job to make up missing work. Your teachers REALLY like to know a couple days before so they can give you what you need.
If you are heading out of town please let me know ASAP so I can give you the work you will be missing. Maybe even get a head start ;)
The number of days you are absent is the number of days you have to make up all absent work.
Absent work can either be found in the “While You Were Out” basket on the side counter of the classroom or on Google Classroom for digital assignments.
Turn in absent work to the “Absent” basket on the side counter of the classroom.
Late Work
You are strongly discouraged from turning work in late as this can establish bad habits and can negatively impact your grade.
Late work will be accepted but final grade will be deducted up to 20%.
Late work must be turned into the “Late Basket” on the side counter of the classroom.
In order for me to grade your late work, you will need to submit a "Late Submission Form" that is singed by a parent/guardian.
TECHNOLOGY
Technology within the classroom should be used as a tool not a toy
No playing games
No Google searching anything off topic
No Google extensions!
Only use websites assigned
Music on cellphones is OK when allowed
Not following these guidelines will result in IMMEDIATE consequences.
