Use materials around the house to design and build a system that will protect a raw egg from a drop. We dropped ours from our balcony.
Please do not do this challenge without parent permission! Your egg drop location doesn't need to be that high. You can simply stand on a stable chair or ladder. Just make sure that everyone who is participating drops their eggs from the same height. I recommend doing this challenge outside in case your egg cracks!
Tips:
* Create something to slow down the descent (like a parachute). To learn more about the physics of parachutes, watch this video from Sci Show Kids.
* Cushion the egg so that something other than the egg itself absorbs the impact upon landing.
* Check out this video from Mark Rober to learn about the physics behind the egg drop challenge.
