Unit #7 1/10 - 2/02 | The Magic of the Script | I am able to examine and read a script using literary methods & techniques used by actors, directors, and designers.

Unit #8 2/05 - 2/23 | A Director Prepares | I can understand the basic tenants of directing and apply them to the One Act Play process.

Unit #9 2/21 - 3/17 | Running the Show | I will experience how a theatrical production runs and work in multiple facets to make it happen.

Unit #10 3/20 - 4/07 | Theatre in the Real World | I can understand how the skills gained in theatre lend themselves to real world opportunities.

Unit #11 4/15 - 5/17| Creative Projects | I can use the tools I have gained in theatre class to produce engaging pieces of art.

TECH THEATRE I-III: A Year at a Glance

Unit #1 8/10 - 9/01| Tech Theatre in a Nutshell | I can demonstrate a working knowledge of technical theatre terms via presentations, discussions, and group projects. 

Unit #2 9/05 - 9/22 | Theatre Safety in Action | I can differentiate between safe theatre practices and unsafe theatre practices. I can demonstrate a working knowledge of theatre safety while building set pieces.

Unit #3 9/25 - 10/13 | Building & Creating for a Play| I have the ability to work with a team to produce set and props for a production. I can take direction from a production director to complete tasks.

Unit #4 10/16 -11/03 | Costumes and Makeup | I can design for and costume the human body, utilizing various styles, colors, and tones. I can understand basic principles of theatre makeup and can practice. 

Unit #5 11/06 - 12/01| Theatre's History & Power in Civilization | I will have a thorough understanding of different theatrical movements in history and the technical theatre elements that were common during these eras. 

Unit #6 12/04 - 12/21| Set Design| I am able to design a set, utilizing draft work, proper measurements, and color. I can create a smaller, to-scale, physical 3-D design of a set.

Unit #7 1/10 - 2/02 | Sound Design | I am able to use sounds and technology to produce soundscapes, paying special attention to intent and the emotional objective of my work.

Unit #8 2/05 - 2/23 | UIL One Act Play | I can understand the basic tenants of technical theatre and utilize them to help create the UIL One Act Play.

Unit #9 2/21 - 3/17 | Running the Show | I will experience how a theatrical production runs and work in multiple facets to make it happen.

Unit #10 3/20 - 4/07 | Lighting Design | I can understand how lighting instruments work and how lighting design can transform a show. I will understand and practice how to light a scene.

Unit #11 4/15 - 5/17| Design Proposal Project | I can use the tools I have gained in technical theatre class to produce a thorough design proposal for a show of my choosing.

Professional Communications: A Year at a Glance

Unit #1 8/10 - 9/01| What is Professionalism? | I can demonstrate a working knowledge of professionalism via presentations and discussions. I will understand the difference between formal and informal speech. 

Unit #2 9/05 - 9/22 | Effective Communication & Personal Empowerment| I understand how to utilize the resources around and within me to effectively communicate my thoughts and opinions. I will understand my strengths as a communicator and use them to my advantage.

Unit #3 9/25 - 10/13 | The Art of Persuasion| I understand what makes persuasive speech and utilize these methods in my everyday life, including the workforce.

Unit #4 10/16 -11/03 | Shark Tank | I can combine research, presentation, and communication skills to sell a product. I am able to work effectively with a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. 

Unit #5 11/06 - 12/01| Employment Part 1: The Resume | I can adopt accepted behaviors and utilize an edited Resume to become an attractive job candidate

Unit #6 12/04 - 12/21| Employment Part 2: The Interview| I can use the skills I have learned in Professional Communications to perform well in a job interview, including but not limited to: professionalism, persuasive speaking , "selling" myself, and confidence building.
