Class Policies and Procedures (all rules and regulations coincide with Lorena ISD student handbook)
Just like any other part of life certain rules and procedures must be followed to ensure productivity. Below are key rules that will be implemented in the classroom throughout the year. Along with these rules, school regulations will be followed in all the proper disciplinary channels.
If students are not in the classroom when the bell rings (start of class) they are tardy. (Tardy / absent policy will coincide with Lorena H.S guidelines.)
A student may only go to the restroom after the first 10 minutes of class has gone by. Also students may not leave during the last 10 minutes of class (known as “Dead TIme”) only if called by the office or another teacher. Exceptions can be made in special circumstances. Requests for hall pass will be via “Smart Pass” which students will be informed how to use.
No profanity or racial slurs will be allowed or tolerated.
Uses of electronic devices (laptops, tablets) are allowed only if it pertains to the lesson in some manner. Cell phones will be collected in a phone caddy at the beginning of class and returned at the end of class. There may be an instance where a project is completed by using cell phones but that will be with prior approval.
Beverages may be allowed (within reason) unless it becomes a hindrance to classroom instruction. Food is not allowed in class. All trash must be disposed of appropriately.
Classroom behavior / speech is expected to be respectful of others ideas, beliefs, and individuality.
Readiness is expected, students should come to class with all materials and supplies.
Vandalism to any school or personal property will not be tolerated.
Horseplay or physical altercations of any kind will not be tolerated.
Makeup work is allowed within reason. Students are responsible to come in for makeup work and tutoring which is allotted at specific times.
Academic dishonesty will result in assignment failure.
