What time will my child be marked tardy? 8:00 AM
What time does dismissal begin? 3:25 PM
What time is lunch? PreK lunches are 10:45-11:10. Kindergarten lunches are 11:00-12:00. First Grade lunches are 12:00-1:00. Second Grade lunches are 11:30-12:30. Contact your child's teacher for their specific class lunch time
Why standard grades and not number grades? Averages can sometimes mask learning gaps. A standards report card breaks each subject into specific concepts and skills that are being taught and assessed. This allows parents to see their child's strangths and weaknesses at a much more granular level.
What standards are used? For the most part, the district has chosen to use the TEA designated Readiness Standards as the report card standards for the grade levels. Of the report card standards, a smaller subset selected by committes of teacher and instructional leaders across grade levels are used for promotion/retention purposes.
What do the progress measures mean? Mastered: Students who receive a progress indicator of "Mastered" on a skill have fully mastered that skill or concept and are ready for the next grade level work in that area. Expected Progress: Students who receive a progress monitor of "Expected Progress" on a skill on the report card are performing exactly where, or even ahead of, where the child is expected to be with a concept or skill at this point in the school year. It means they are on track to be at "Mastered" by the end of the school year. Below Expected Progress: Students who receive a progress indicator of "Below Expected Progress" on a skill are not currently on track to achieve the level of "Mastered" by the end of the year.
