Grading policy

Grading Breakdown:

40% Minor – This includes both in class work and homework. There will be at least six daily grades per 6-weeks. Often times we will have more than six. Some assignments may be double weighted and count as two daily grades.

60% Major – This category is for tests, papers, and projects. There will be 2 – 5 test or quizzes per 6 week period, and there will be one project per 6-weeks.

Late Work Policy:

All work will be accepted up to THREE DAYS LATE with a deduction of TEN POINTS PER DAY. The highest grade that a student can earn on a paper three days late is a 70. After 3:25 on the 3rd day late, work will not be accepted and a zero will be entered into the gradebook. Students should make every effort to complete assignments utilizing before and/or after school time, tutorials, and/or the Learning Café.

Curriculum

Course Information and Objectives:

In seventh grade, English Language Arts is combined with Reading. Because of this, all classroom reading is integrated with the language arts aspect of English class. Students will be writing, reading out loud in class or on their own, and studying grammar almost every day. Students will learn how to use their class time wisely so that work can be completed during the day instead of for homework.

Students are now at the age where they need to be accountable for their own actions. They are expected to take responsibility of their learning by coming to class prepared and with all work completed. We will NOT have a daily list of missing work. The homework policy will be enforced and students will need to learn how to manage their studies.
