Spend two weeks at AZA-accredited Toledo Zoo. Get behind-the-sense access to see how the zoo runs, participate in various labs, and work hands-on with farm animals.
This page will take you through everything you need to know about your program. You should READ every section. We've linked additional information under each topic as needed.
A Real ID: This is a new requirement for US Citizens to fly domestically after May 7, 2025. Read more here on the Homeland Security website.
Students will stay at near by hotel. There will be 2 students per room with queen beds and ensuite bathrooms.
Breakfast will be at the hotel each morning and students will have the opportunity to stop at Starbucks. Lunch will be provided by the Zoo each day and dinner will be on your own. There are a variety of food options like Panera, Mcdonalds and other local restaurants.
There is no group flight for this program and depending on where you are located, you may be planning to drive to the program location. You are welcome to do so, and free parking is available. You will be subject to the same rules as the rest of the group during the program and will not be able to leave the program to drive to other locations during the program week.
Your program begins on a Sunday and ends on a Saturday. You are responsible for getting to this program location at the start of the program and getting home from this location at the end of the program. There is no formal itinerary for Sunday, but your staff member will help you to get to know your group and answer any questions. You are welcome to arrive earlier in the day but you will only be able to check in to the program housing from 3pm. Staff may arrive in the afternoon or at least by Sunday evening.
The only items you are required to bring are those on the “required” lists. General required items (like your passport) are found on the ALL PROGRAMS packing list above. Program specific required items are found below under the REQUIRED section. For the rest of the items, you are welcome to use your discretion. There may be items missing from this list that you’d like to bring, and there may be items on this list that you don’t want to bring. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Bedding: We will provide you with sheets, pillows, and blankets.
Towels: Towels will be provided by the hotel

Dress Code: Students are required to wear close-toed shoes, long pants, and a t-shirt.
Money: Most students spend around $200 USD on a two-week program. You’ll likely want to buy things like snacks, or drinks. You will only NEED money for dinner each night.
