This is an extremely rare opportunity to learn in a small group with your teaching veterinarian to see up-close to how a big cat sanctuary operates.
This page will take you through everything you need to know about your program. You should READ every section. We've linked additional information under each topic as needed.
A Real ID: This is a new requirement for US Citizens to fly domestically after May 7, 2025. Read more here on the Homeland Security website.
Students will be staying at a near by hotel. There will be two students per room with two queen beds and ensuite bathrooms. WiFi is available. Staff will be on site 24/7.
Breakfast will be at the hotel, usually eggs and bacon, waffles, etc. The program starts with the welcome dinner on Sunday evening. The welcome dinner is provided but other dinners are not. We provide breakfast each morning at the hotel and lunches Monday to Friday. The program will end on Saturday and breakfast is the last meal provided.
There is no group flight for this program and depending on where you are located, you may be planning to drive to the program location. You are welcome to do so, and free parking is available. You will be subject to the same rules as the rest of the group during the program and will not be able to leave the program to drive to other locations during the program week.
The only items you are required to bring are those on the “required” lists. General required items (like your passport) are found on the ALL PROGRAMS packing list above. Program specific required items are found below under the REQUIRED section. For the rest of the items, you are welcome to use your discretion. There may be items missing from this list that you’d like to bring, and there may be items on this list that you don’t want to bring. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Closed toe shoes
Clothing: You can wear shorts and tee shirts at the center each day; please avoid tank tops and very short shorts (shorter than mid-thigh) for work hours. You should prepare for it to be cold inside the buildings but hot outside.
Closed-toed shoes (sneakers are suggested). You will likely also want to have some flip flops/shoes for the housing
PLEASE CHECK THE WEATHER AND PACK ACCORDINGLY. There is no uniform dress code for this program. Plan to get dirty on this program!
Bedding: We will provide you with sheets, pillows, and blankets.
Towels: Towels and washcloths will be provided by the hotel.
Laundry: Laundry will not be available on this program.
Outlets: You will not need an adapter
Dress Code: There is no specific dress code for this program. Students are required to wear closed toe shoes everyday.
Money: Most students spend around $200 USD on a two-week program. You’ll likely want to buy things like laundry, snacks or drinks. So you don’t NEED any money, but you’ll want to bring enough that you can buy some things to bring home. We HIGHLY recommend contacting your bank and ordering USD before leaving for the program. There will be an ATM where students can withdraw money, and there is an ATM transaction fee each time.
