SIGN OUT POLICY
Most of our down time is spent as a group. However, at certain locations and activities, such as street markets, we’d like students to be able to walk around without staff. In order to do so, students must pair up (2 or more students), sign out a site phone (cell phone), and return to the meeting point at the designated meeting time. Students may also sometimes be able to sign out of housing in groups to run an errand or do some shopping. Students must stay in their group and answer the phone if we call. A first violation of these rules results in the removal of permission to sign out without a staff member. There are no exceptions to this rule or to its consequences.
PROGRAM TRANSPORTATION
During your trip, you may find yourself transported by plane, truck, train, car, drawn cart, bicycle, tractor, boat, or ferry, among other vehicles. Listen to the drivers and the staff and follow any safety precautions they give you. Travel by truck is very common, from truck-style taxis with benches in the back to cattle trucks on the farm. You must always be seated and never lean out the back when traveling in a truck. Wear seatbelts when available.
You are not to ride in any vehicles unless specific permission has been provided. During sign-out time, you are not allowed to travel by vehicle OF ANY KIND. There is no hitchhiking under any circumstances. You may not operate any vehicles. Even if you have a license at home, you aren’t permitted to drive any motor vehicle during the trip.
