Financial Aid
Loop Abroad only offers financial aid on our 12-week semester programs. For our short-term programs, you may be able to use any federal financial aid you have for your school. Generally, you will need to have credit approved by your school to use any aid.
We recommend setting up a meeting with your advisor to discuss your options. Syllabi for all of our programs can be found here for your advisor to review. Students can also contact their financial aid and study abroad offices on campus to explore more local scholarship options. You can email admissions@loopabroad.com if you or your advisor have any questions.
If you are on a 12-week semester program and would like to apply for financial aid through Loop Abroad, you can do so at the time of application or by clicking this link.
Please don’t be shy about communicating with us! If you need assistance communicating with your financial aid office, understanding your funding options, or coming up with a plan to finance your Loop Abroad experience, please contact us at admissions@loopabroad.com. We are happy to help!
Scholarships
Please review our "scholarship database" of many potential scholarships that our students could be eligible for. This is not a complete list of scholarships you should look at! We highly recommend researching scholarships on your own. Applying to scholarships takes a bit of time and effort but it is definitely worth it.
Tip #1: look locally. There are usually smaller local organizations looking to help students cover educational costs! Check on campus- talk to your study abroad office, or financial aid office, look on your university pages, etc. Also check with your college (College of Science, College of Ag, etc) as they will sometimes have scholarships available for just their students.
Tip #2: apply for everything you qualify for. While the larger scholarships are more enticing, don't skip out on the smaller ones! A $100 scholarship is still $100 you don't have to pay and they really do start to add up!
You can find more help on our website here.
**Highly recommend the Gilman Scholarship is a really great option if you are already receiving a Pell Grant. This is offered twice a year. Please let us know if you are planning to apply for this and we can work with you on the deadlines.
Donation Link
Your trip abroad is going to change your life. But to make it possible, you might have to fundraise. You aren't alone here; many Loop Abroad students fundraise to pay for their trips. We know that fundraising can be overwhelming, especially when you're busy with homework, school, jobs, internships, and whatever else you have going on.
We created a Donate to Student Tuition page on our website where donations can be made to help with your tuition expenses. Unlike contributing through GoFundMe, which charges approximately 8% of your payment in service fees and processing charges, contributing through this page has no fees or charges. If someone donates $25, $25 goes toward your tuition. We recommend posting your donation link on your social media, sharing with friends and family or asking people to donate for your birthday or Christmas!
Once your tuition is completely paid off, we ask that you please let everyone know to stop donating. If we can help in any way, just let us know!
Payment Plans
The admissions team can set up an interest-free payment plan for you to pay your tuition monthly. They are interest-free meaning your tuition is not changed and no fees apply to paying monthly. Payments made under a payment plan follow the same cancellation and refundschedule as payments made on the traditional payment schedule.
We can completely customize it to your schedule and the sooner you start a plan, the lower the monthly payments will be. Final payments are due before your program begins and we can extend the final payment deadline depending on your program start date. Email us to discuss your options if you are interested.
Here is an example of what to expect with a tuition bill of $4350:
Nov 1: $1000 (deposit)
Dec 1: $670
Jan 1: $670
Feb 1: $670
March 1: $670
April 1: $670
Loans
Student Loans (available to US citizen and residents) Note: Student loans may be available in other countries, but this information pertains to student loans within the US. If you attend college or university outside of the US, you can talk to your school about their loan structure and whether funds are available for studying abroad.
If you are receiving college credit from your school for your Loop Abroad program (either directly from your school, or from your school’s acceptance of transfer credits from University of Findlay), you can talk to your financial aid office about using your federal financial aid for your Loop Abroad tuition. Receiving credit is a great first step to using your federal loans toward your tuition. Your school will have to certify any financial aid and then release the funds to you or to Loop Abroad to put toward your tuition.
If there is no additional funding available from your federal loans, you can borrow up to 100% of your Loop Abroad tuition from the Ascent Program on Funding Education. In order to apply for a tuition loan with Ascent, you must:
Be a US citizen or resident
Be enrolled in college or university at least half-time
Be enrolled in a college or university on the approved list (the list includes over 2,000 colleges and universities, including most non-profit 4-year colleges and universities in the US)
Loans granted by Ascent would have to be certified by your home college or university, who would then release the funds for use in your Loop Abroad program. As long as you are getting credit at your home institution, your school should be able to certify the loan for you. The rates vary depending on your credit history. These student loans can be deferred until after your graduation.
NOTE: You cannot use University of Findlay as your School Name to apply for the loan, even if you are getting credit from Findlay. You must use your home institution.
Please remember that loans need to be repaid. You are charged interest on loans. Student loans make courses and programs accessible, but you should be sure to read all the terms and conditions carefully and make sure you understand the details of the loan before borrowing.
