General Flight Information
The Victoria Regional Airport (airport code VCT) is approximately 10 miles away from the program housing. If you are flying, we suggest that you fly into and out of VCT. You are responsible for taking a taxi or rideshare from the airport, you can check in with Loop Abroad staff when you arrive on campus.
Flights to Houston (George Bush Intercontinental Airport, airport code IAH) may be cheaper but please note that the drive to campus is approximately 2.5 hours from IAH, and traffic can cause delays. We would not suggest this option unless you have a reason to go to Houston first (for example, if you are visiting family who are then willing to drive you 2.5 hours and then pick you up.)
Your program begins on a Sunday and ends on a Saturday. Our first group event will be a welcome dinner and orientation at approximately 6pm. This is the first meal provided with the program. You are welcome to arrive earlier in the day and will be able to check in to program housing as early as 12pm. There is a swimming pool available for your use. It is okay if you arrive after 6pm, but please note that you will miss dinner if you do.
The last meal provided with your program is breakfast on departure day, which will be available as early as 6am. You must be checked out of the housing by 12pm on departure day, but there is lounge space to wait if your flight is later in the day.
You will be asked to provide your flight information in your Enrollment Paperwork. If you are driving, you can put "driving" in all required boxes.
Travel Day
Loop Abroad staff will be available on travel days by phone for any travel delays or arrival problems. If you are flying, it is important that you arrive at the airport on time. You should schedule your inbound flight so that if you miss it or if it is cancelled or delayed, the next scheduled flight on that airline would still get you to the airport on time. It is a good idea to check with your airline for on-time percentages and choose your flight accordingly.
Two days prior to departure, you will receive additional information about airport arrangements and emergency contact numbers. Please read this information carefully as it may answer any additional questions you have about your travel.
Your first meal included in your tuition will be dinner on arrival day and your last meal included in your tuition is breakfast on departure day. If you are going to be arriving earlier or departing later, you will be responsible for your own meals.
Solo Traveling
If you choose to travel on your own before or after the program ends, you are solely responsible for your own safety during that time. It is your responsibility to ensure that you arrive to meet your group on the first day of the program and that you have any travel documents you need to complete your individual travel plans.
