Membership
To become a BerMis FFA member, students must be enrolled in at least one semester of agriculture education per year and pay yearly dues of $35.
All dues-paying members will receive a t-shirt.
Leadership Development Events (LDE)
Leadership Development Events provide FFA members with experience in the practice of influencing others through speaking events.
Students compete at the District 11 competition each fall (Mid-November) to qualify for the State FFA Convention in the spring.
More specific information on each individual event can be found HERE.
Career Development Events (CDE)
Career Development Events build on what is learned in the classroom and encourage members to put their knowledge in practice in a competitive way.
An emphasis is placed on career and job related skills and challenge a student's technical, leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills along with their knowledge on the content matter.
More specific information on each individual event can be found HERE.
Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE)
A supervised agriculture experience provides all students with endless opportunities based upon exploring passions and career interests.
Students start with a Foundational SAE (Career exploration, employability skills, personal finance and mangement etc.) and eventually expand to include an Immersion SAE (placement, entrepreneurship, research etc.)
SAEs take place outside of schedule classroom time, and provide students an opportunity to receive real-world career experiences in an area of interest.
Examples of SAEs in Arlington FFA include working at local businesses (The Barn, Bomgaars, ag producers) and owning a business (lawn care, horse training, showing livestock).
More information regarding SAEs can be found HERE.
