Mathematics 

  Grade 6 Mathematics

The purpose of this course is to further develop student practice in problem solving, pattern recognition, application and computation. Proficiency of standards will be shown by students through models, explanation of solving processes, critique and reflection of their own thinking. LUSD Middle Schoolers will use CPM (College Preparatory Math) textbook, which will be available for previewing/reviewing by student or parent the entire year with their CPM CC1 eBook.

Math Scoring Rubric

Meets/Mastery of standard

Student has the correct answer and processes to the question/prompt. Student shows that they understand the concept. Student followed  all directions provided.  Student's work shows mastery.

Proficiency of standard

Student's work nearly demonstrates mastery of the concept.  Answer/Process is lacking in minor details or contains partial evidence to show complete understanding. Student's work requires additional practice. 

Emerging  proficiency of standard

Student's work does not show understanding of the concept being evaluated.  Student may not have followed directions.  Student's work shows limited progress towards mastery of concept and requires remediation. as they do not understand the concept or how to proceed to a correct solution.

Insufficient evidence of proficiency or Incomplete Attempt

Response shows a lack of understanding of assignment or the concept being evaluated. The student may have submitted work that was incomplete or unfinished. Limited or no attempt was made to see out additional information or assistance.

No Attempt

Present for all discussion and practice but did not  attempt find solutions to given problem/assignment.
