All of our 8th grader students participate in the Community Project - the capstone project of our International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program.
As part of this project, students:
identify a real-world issue within their community
research and design a solution
take action to create a meaningful impact
reflect on their learning and growth
This experience not only empowers students to apply the Approaches to Learning (ATL skills) they have developed throughout their IB education, but it also prepares them to be thoughtful, engaged citizens who make a difference in their communities.
8th grade students work on this project over the course of the school year during one of their 50 minute blocks on Wednesday. The project can be completed in a group (up to 3 people) or individually and is guided by a designated faculty advisor on campus. Completion of all stages of the project as well as participation in the Community Project Showcase on April 23rd is an 8th Grade Promotion requirement.
**These dates may be adjusted throughout the year to fit the needs of students and calendar events. If changes are made, students will be made aware of those changes.
