Coach Tracie McAtee is a high school Algebra I and Computer Science teacher at Loogootee High School. After previously serving as the varsity head coach for three seasons and spending several years involved throughout the Loogootee volleyball program, she returns this year to lead the Lions once again. Coach McAtee says her favorite volleyball memory is advancing to the IHSAA State Finals during her senior season. She enjoys helping athletes develop their offensive skills and is excited to be back on the varsity sideline, working with the program's high school players and continuing to build a strong, competitive culture.
Coach Leslie Summers is a 1993 LHS graduate who serves as the Property Administrator of Blake Funeral Homes Inc. and Blake Properties and is entering her 24th season coaching volleyball. As a former Lion herself, Coach Summers played volleyball at LHS from 1989–1992. Her favorite playing memory is winning the 1991 Sectional championship during her junior year, before the move to class volleyball. She also treasures the experience of being part of the coaching staff when the Lions practiced and competed for a state championship at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Coach Summers loves teaching defense and hustle, while her players might say her favorite skill is reminding them to CALL THE BALL LOUD! This season, she is excited to watch the girls grow and improve both individually and as a team, celebrate their successes, and build strong relationships with the players and coaching staff. She is especially excited for the opportunity to coach alongside her daughter, Brooklyn!
Coach Mya Johnson is a 2017 Loogootee grad, currently a hospice nurse, and is entering her fourth season coaching JV volleyball\ for the Lions. A former Loogootee volleyball player herself, Coach Johnson’s favorite memories include winning sectional and regional championships, and the excitement of tournament runs alongside her teammates and friends. Her favorite skills to teach are attacking and blocking, but she also places a strong emphasis on communication. As a coach, she has developed an even greater appreciation for how crucial communication is on the court and enjoys helping her players build that skill. This season, Coach Johnson is excited to watch her players gain confidence in their abilities and develop into athletes who are prepared to compete at the varsity level.
Coach Jocelyn Strange is a 2022 Loogootee graduate and currently works as a financial analyst. She brings plenty of playing experience to our program, including four years of varsity volleyball for the Lions, three years with Metro Volleyball Club, and collegiate experience at Millikin University. Her favorite volleyball memory is defeating Trinity Lutheran in a high-energy 3-set match to capture the Regional Championship during her junior year of high school. Coach Strange especially enjoys teaching defense and serving. This season, she is excited to build a high-energy culture, have fun, and compete!
Coach Brooklyn Summers is a 2023 Loogootee grad who works as a Program Analyst and brings both high school and collegiate playing experience to the Loogootee Volleyball coaching staff. She played for the Lions from 2019-2022, competed with Metro Volleyball Club from 2019–2023, and continued her career at Vincennes University for two seasons from 2024–2025. Brooklyn has spent the last three years volunteering at the high school level and coaching at the club level. Her favorite volleyball memories are the friendships she built through playing volleyball and the experience of competing at Nationals alongside her teammates. She especially enjoys working with setters and teaching defensive skills. This season, Coach Summers is excited to get to know her players, watch them grow throughout the season, and help them build confidence both on and off the court.
Coach Whitney Wagoner is a Public Affairs and Communications Specialist and has 10 years of coaching experience at the middle school level. She is a former Loogootee volleyball player, competing for the Lions from 2002-2006. One of her favorite memories as a player is helping Loogootee earn its first State Runner-Up title in 2005 after an unforgettable 2.5 hour, five-set Semistate battle with Northeast Dubois, followed by the State Championship match just 25 minutes later! Coach Wagoner enjoys teaching court vision and defense and loves watching the growth that takes place throughout a season. She is especially excited to help her players build confidence and enjoys looking back at where her teams started and seeing just how far they’ve come in only a few short months.
Coach Jayme Thompson is a Middle School/High School Health and PE teacher at Loogootee. She is a former four-year varsity volleyball player for the Lions and was a member of the team that captured Loogootee’s first Volleyball Regional Championship during her senior year. Coach Thompson has 6 years of experience coaching both 7th and 8th grade volleyball, with one of her favorite coaching memories is watching her 8th grade team win a Blue Chip Conference Title. She enjoys teaching the little things that make the biggest difference on the court and loves helping her players develop the strength, skills, and confidence they can carry with them to the high school level and beyond.
Coach Grace Lingenfelter is an elementary special education teacher at Loogootee Elementary School. She former three-year varsity volleyball player for the Lions, she was a member of Loogootee's State Finals team and says her favorite volleyball memory is the team's trip to the IHSAA State Finals during her junior year. This is her first season leading a team after previously serving as a volunteer coach. Coach Lingenfelter enjoys teaching the fundamentals of passing and serving and is excited to watch her players grow in skill, confidence, and teamwork throughout the season.
