Summative Average 50%

Engagement Average 20%

-2nd and 3rd Quarter will have a benchmark examination that will count for 15% of the quarter grade.

-4th Quarter the benchmark will count for 20% of the quarter grade.

Assignments and Tests

All assignments will be posted at the beginning of each week. Students are given due dates for all the assignments and a tentative date for the unit exam.

All assignments are considered both classwork and homework. Students will be expected to work in class and at home on the assignments. This will allow them to work at a pace they feel comfortable. When a unit test approaches, students will have to demonstrate they have completed the necessary assignments to complete take the unit exam. If a student does not have the necessary assignments, they will not take the exam until they are completed.

Every student who receives an 84 or below (85 is considered Mastery) will have the opportunity to take a retest to increase their grade. Students will have to demonstrate they have studied or prepared for the retest in order to receive the retest.

BEHAVIOR

My students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner. They are to respect the room, the other students and the teacher. Bullying or harassment in any form will not be tolerated. They must also follow all the school rules including the dress code and cell phones must be turned off and not be visible.

EDUCATION

I want to make this year as enjoyable as possible. I promise I will try and make your Social Studies experience exciting, enriching, and rewarding. I need all of you to realize that the responsibility lies on your shoulders. It is your attitude towards this class that will determine your success or failure. You must be ready to complete all work assigned in class and at home. You must study properly for all examinations. I will available for extra-help as needed. Let’s make this year one to remember!
