Middle School Dress Code

Philosophy

The purpose of a dress code in a Christian school setting is to exemplify standards of appearance that reflect the human dignity of students as God’s image-bearers on earth. The LCS standards of dress and grooming are in keeping with Christian ideals we seek to establish in those who attend our school. We have set a moderate age-appropriate tone, avoiding the extremes of both legalism and liberalism. There are four components the school considers when setting guidelines for grooming standards:

1. The issue of modesty

2. The issue of safety in class and on the campus

3. The way LCS students represent Godly character to the community

4. Student attire being conducive to a serious academic environment

Much time is spent each year checking student’s clothing to make sure it meets standards of modesty. In an effort to help teachers focus on education rather than current fashion trends and to simplify the lives of our parents, we are rolling back the dress code to an earlier time.
