Have you ever read a page or chapter, and when you got to the end you had no clue what you just read? Active reading strategies can help us better recall our readings. When we implement these strategies it may take us longer to read, but with practice, these become habits and will save us time!

Consider the environment in which you are reading. Are there distractions? Phones, Music, TV, other? If your brain is dividing time between the text and other stimuli, your brain will not be absorbing as much information from the text as you need.
One last strategy, try telling someone about what you just read. The action of verbally summarizing what you read will help you retain information. (Most adults love hearing about what their teens are reading learning!)
