Meet the Teacher:

Hello Second Grade Families! My name is Rachel Baltas, and I’m so excited to be your student’s teacher this year! This will be my first year at Center School, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Longmeadow school community. Before this, I taught first grade in Haverhill Public Schools and absolutely loved it.

A little about me: I graduated from Curry College with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and continued on to earn my Master of Education in Moderate Disabilities through a fifth-year program. During that time, I had the opportunity to work in Westwood, MA, where I learned from some incredible mentor teachers.

Outside the classroom, I love spending time with family and friends. I’m a big fan of card games (and I can get pretty competitive!). On weekends, you’ll find me browsing the aisles of Marshalls, TJ Maxx, or HomeGoods. I grew up in Southborough, MA, and have moved around a bit in adulthood—thanks to the U.S. Navy.

I’m really looking forward to a fun and meaningful year in second grade. I can’t wait to get to know your students and work together to support their growth and learning!
