Course Description
Wind Ensemble is an honors level course for wind, brass and percussion students by audition. Wind Ensemble gives three in-school concerts a year as well additional off-campus performances throughout the school year. Students should share a passion for excellence regarding personal and ensemble growth. All members of Wind Ensemble are the wind, brass and percussion section for the LHS Symphony.
Auditions are required for all students to be part of the LHS Wind Ensemble. Auditions are held in the spring prior to each school year. Daily individual practice is a requirement for this course and student musicians are expected to display daily growth on their instruments to benefit them as well as the entire group. Students are strongly encouraged to audition for the Senior District Festival each school year.
The LHS Wind Ensemble has performed at the Massachusetts Music Educator Conference, the NAfME All-Eastern Festival and the College Band Director National Association/National Band Association Northeast Conference. Additionally, the LWE has performed across the United States and Europe.
