The Glenbrook Library had a special visitor today! Boomer, the mascot from the Springfield Thunderbirds, visited our school to promote the Stick To Reading program that some of our classes are participating in. In this program, students read a little every day for 6 weeks, track their reading in a log, and get a ticket to a Thunderbirds game as a reward. Participating Glenbrook students will be going to the Pink in the Rink game against the Providence Bruins on March 8, 2025.
Thank you, Boomer, for flying into Glenbrook today! Everyone enjoyed your visit!

Eigth grade students Morgan Vehse and Ivylina Park created these Slides as part of their Action Civics project on Plagiarism Awareness. You can learn more about plagiarism and how to avoid it by going through their presentation. Thank you, Morgan and Ivylina, for spreading the word!
This week, the Glenbrook Library joins thousands of libraries around the U.S. in recognizing Banned Books Week. This event is an annual celebration of our freedom to read and have access to information. By learning about banned books, we can bring awareness to the harms of censorship. Come see the Banned Books Week display in the library to learn more.
The library is currently displaying the work of Sra. Wray's and Sra. Grader's Spanish students. The 8th grade students created ofrendas to honor people, usually family members, who have passed away, while grade 7 students sculpted alebrijes - original fantasy and mythical creatures that are a Mexican folk art tradition dating back almost 100 years.
Here is a video of our Halloween display. Come take a look at some of these NEW and CLASSIC scary stories!
The Glenbrook Library is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with this display of books. Visit the library to check them out.

Books from the Glenbrook Library are unavailable for check-out due to access to the building being extremely limited at this time. If this should change in the future, you will be notified through this webpage and your ELA Google Classroom.
Please take advantage of the Library's eResources available on this website, and those from Storrs and Boston Public Library (see below).
Storrs Library
Patrons with active library cards are able to access eResources through the Library website. If a patron's card is expired, they are welcome to call the library Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm and a staff member can update their status. If a patron's account is blocked due to fines, the patron can pay online to reactivate (at this time, they can not come to the library and pay in person). We understand that not all students, staff and community members have Storrs Library cards.
Boston Public Library eResources & eCards
A great option for those, or for active card members looking for additional resources, is to take advantage of the BPL eCard.
Residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are entitled to register for a BPL eCard and access databases, electronic resources and a variety of materials that are available from the Boston Public Library (BPL). To register for a BPL eCard, applicants must meet any of the following criteria:
Reside permanently in Massachusetts.
Live in-state for most of the year to attend school.
Commute to a Massachusetts employer on a sustained and regular basis (primary place of work).
Own property (real estate) in Massachusetts.
For additional information about registering for a BPL eCard, please consult Boston Public Library’s eCard FAQ on their website. Boston Public Library makes available its resources to the Commonwealth as part of its status as the Library of the Commonwealth. The Library for the Commonwealth is a state funded program by BPL which provides services to anyone who lives or works in Massachusetts. Additional information about this program is available on BPL’s website.
