Hi! I am excited to introduce myself to this community and potential clients!
I’m a rural Louisiana native who grew up active in Girl Scouts and 4-H. Both youth organizations sparked my interest in environmental sciences, leadership, community engagement, and youth development. After graduating from LSU with a degree in Vocational Education I moved to Alabama in 2004, where I served as the Auburn University Regional Extension Agent for the Wiregrass Region. I later earned my Master of Science degree in Child, Youth, and Family Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I worked with the Mississippi State University Extension Service as a 4-H Youth Development Agent in Jackson County on the Gulf Coast for 8 years. I took a break from my career pursuits to be a full-time caregiver for my father with dementia and to stay home with my small children until they entered school in the Fall of 2020. During that time I couldn’t help but find places to volunteer in our community and I enjoyed ministry service and serving on the Friends of the Library Board.
My first project upon returning to work was helping Keep Mobile Beautiful to re-launch the Mobile County Commission's county-wide, GOMESA grant-funded initiative, 'Love Your Community'. This project supplies litter clean-up materials to individuals and small groups who register their teams. Participants can report their clean-up hours to qualify for sub-grants ranging from $500 to $1,500, which can be used for a beautification or sustainability project of their choice within Mobile County. Under my leadership, the program has grown to more than 150 teams across Mobile County and over 1,000 volunteers of all ages have been involved.
As owner of Longleaf Consulting, LLC I recently served the City of Mobile's ‘Litter Free Mobile’ campaign through a partnership with Osprey Initiative. Together we launched the Litter Literacy curriculum to all public and private school 6th grade students in the City of Mobile during the 2023-2024 school year. Seeing this project from the development and writing stages to the in-class presentations and now reviewing the student post-test results, has been a dream come true. I am so excited about the future of this program!
I also am serving as the Chair of the Mobile United Natural Resources Task Force Committee and assist with leading the city-wide Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service clean-up and monthly Green Drinks, informational networking events. I was a member of the Leadership Mobile Class of 2022, where I served on the Economic Development team.
I am married to my husband Stephen (a Mobile County native) of 15 years, and we have two children, Stella (9) and Wesley (8). We live in the Tanner Williams community.
I am excited about new opportunities to work with businesses, non-profits, municipalities, and government entities. Please don't hesitate to reach out to discuss how I can help you!
Sincerely,
