Description

The student will create a digital story about her family's Hanukkah celebration using Book Creator. She will illustrate the story with a comic made in Pixton and add narration, providing authentic language and details. This project aligns with CCSS W.5.3 by encouraging students to write narratives that include effective technique, clear sequences, and relevant details.

Content

I can engage the reader by utilizing visuals and key details to explain a cultural tradition.

I can utilize Book Creator to develop a cohesive sequence of important events.

Procedure

Students first brainstormed ideas of what they would be comfortable sharing.
Students then produced a moment in their lives using Pixton and Book Creator to illustrate their experience and provide authentic language.

Reflection

This project allowed the student to exercise choice in brainstorming and selecting a topic, fostering ownership of their learning.
