Students will assess one another’s project by practicing providing authentic audience feedback including: clapping, questions, and responses to listeners. Teacher also utilized a model project to engage and show students how to produce their own stories and reflect on their own product.
Students will use Pixton to storyboard an important tradition, cultural event, or life experience to share with peers. Their final product, created in Book Creator, will include images and a narrative, encouraging reflection on experiences at home, school, or in the community. They will write a short narrative, add visuals, and may record their voices. The completed stories will be shared with K-12 students and families, fostering cultural exchange and family engagement.
I can engage my reader by utilizing visuals and key details to explain an important cultural tradition.
I can use formal English to write a narrative explaining chosen details and sequence of a cultural tradition.
I can utilize Book Creator to develop a cohesive sequence of important events.
Students first brainstormed ideas of what they would be comfortable sharing.
Students then produced a moment in their lives using Book Creator to illustrate their experience.
Teacher sat with students during the writing process to assess and clarify the description of each “scene” of their event.
Students spent time at home discussing the event with their families to better understand its cultural significance and how each day is planned out.
Once the descriptions were complete, we then finalized the project by adding images.

In the future I will start the project sooner to be able to show more examples of personal narratives. This will also allow for more differentiated vocabulary, personal research, and self and peer revisions. This project provided a special opportunity for all our students to come together in a learning celebration, showcasing their creations and reflecting on their experiences. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and eagerly anticipate our district-wide celebration, where K-12 students will connect across grade levels and share their unique stories.
