Procedure
Utilizing the Achieve 3000 reading program several articles were read to prepare for our trip to The Vanderbilt Museum, in Centerport. With distance learning, we focused on only the articles having to do with eclipses. Students made a Google slide about eclipses. The skill focus was finding the main ideas and utilizing the vocabulary . We then worked through the Nearpod presentation about eclipses and then went through each of the activities.
Resources and Other Materials
We used the Nearpod subscription and iPads from the Consortium
Reflection
Due to the “change in venue” for school, the students learned to tackle the technology piece in different ways and at a quicker pace. Through Google Meet we accomplished more than I anticipated, they were able to share their ideas and ask questions. The lesson started out larger but was scaled back. The Nearpod lesson pulled all of the pieces together and allowed the students to work at their own pace if they needed.
