I had students go over their slides before I looked at the slides, to check their own work. We then had mini lessons on adjectives, verb tense and other helpful grammatical topics. Students then read and commented on each other's paragraphs for ideas and suggestions.
The student will write about a day in the life of themselves, using Canva to showcase how they spend their day.
I can create a daily schedule.
I can present in front of my class.
I can read about myself.
I can answer questions from my peers.
I can learn how to use new technology.
The students first saw an example of my Canva project showing about a day in my life. This was their springboard for their ideas. Then they completed a chart of what they do each hour or two of the day. We then had them pick a template for their project and label the times and their sentences that went with each one. Together, we elaborated and expanded on their sentences.

I enjoyed doing this because I feel I got to know my students better, like what they do before and after school and how they prepare their own meals. I think next time I may have them do a day in the life of their school day, so that I can get actual photos of them to use in their presentation.
