Students will submit a digital story project that includes a narrative, images, and audio elements. They will be assessed on clarity of the story, creativity, use of digital tools, and engagement with the audience.
Students will be able to select a topic and create a digital story using multimedia tools to effectively communicate their narrative.
I can choose a topic which explores my interests.
I can create a digital way to tell my story.
I can record my voice to pair my speaking with my presentation.
Model how to brainstorm ideas for their stories through a graphic organizer
Provide examples of strong narratives and analyze them as a class
Ask questions to guide students in developing their story ideas (e.g., "What is the main message of your story?" "How will you engage your audience?")
Monitor student discussions and provide feedback as they brainstorm
Students will create a digital story project based on a chosen topic. They will use the multimedia tools discussed to include visuals, audio, and text.
Set clear behavioral expectations: work quietly, respect others’ ideas, and seek assistance when needed.
Students will have a rubric outlining the criteria for success, including creativity, narrative clarity, and audience engagement
Have students share one element of their story they are most excited about with a partner
Gather a few volunteers to share their ideas with the class to celebrate creativity and encourage peer feedback

I liked this project because it allowed myself to better get to know the students. I also liked how it gave the students the option of voice and choice. They wound up picking a lot of the same topics, however this was up to them. If I did this again, I would encourage them to try and choose topics that differ from one another so there would be more variation in the presentations.
