In this digital storytelling project, students will record themselves sharing their name, country of origin, and an important food dish from their culture. The project promotes language development, cultural exchange, and digital literacy. Students at varying English proficiency levels will use Canva to capture and share their stories. Differentiated support will be provided through sentence frames, visual aids, and peer collaboration to scaffold learning.

I can use Canva to share my story digitally.
Introduction: Begin with a class discussion about food and its cultural significance. Show examples of digital storytelling using tools.
Planning: Students brainstorm what they want to say about their name, country, and food dish. Provide sentence frames to guide their speaking.
Support: For Entering students, offer bilingual word banks or translation tools. For Commanding students, challenge them to expand on their answers with more detailed explanations or stories about their dish.
Creation: Students use Canva to record their stories. Encourage them to use visuals, like photos of the dish or flags, to enhance their presentation.
Sharing: Have students present their digital stories in small groups or with the whole class.
Reflection: After the presentations, students reflect on what they learned about their classmates’ cultures and the foods that matter to them.
