WHAT IS LITTLE WAVES?

The LBPS Little Waves Infant and Toddler Childcare Center's mission is to provide a high quality early educational program that is developmentally appropriate and fosters the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each individual child while providing a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. Our goal is to strengthen the bridge between work and family life by creating a childcare center that supports both child and parent and helps the family maintain a healthy balance.

A high-quality early childhood program includes:

  • Frequent, positive, warm interactions among children and teachers

  • Planned learning activities appropriate to child's age and development

  • Specially trained teachers and administrators

  • Differentiated age appropriate materials

  • Cultural Diversity

  • Inclusive environment

  • Regular two way communication with families and caregivers

  • Effective administration

  • Ongoing systematic evaluation

Our Philosophy

The philosophy of the center is to make learning a positive experience for children and to develop an early love for learning in every child. These early learning experience will be facilitated by teacher caregivers that are referred to as "Educarers". The Educarers have a deep knowledge and understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices as established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the NJ Birth to Three Learning Standards.

Our emphasis is on play as the major "work" of children. We believe children learn best by being part of a creative, child centered environment and are given ample opportunities to act on that environment. The children are given opportunities to engage in "hands on activities" that are both child and teacher directed. Learning takes place as young children touch, manipulate, and experiment with things and interact with their peers and adults. The curriculum places and emphasis on the process of learning rather than the product.

At the center, we view parents as the principle influence in their child's life; therefore, we understand that a partnership between parent and Educarer is essential in order to create a supportive system that allows each child to feel safe and loved while promoting physical, social emotional, and cognitive development.

As early childhood educators, we are committed to providing the best for young children and to making the most of our time with each child in our care.
