Linda Salzar, CHMM*, EMT, NFPA Fire Instructor III
CEO & Chief of Curriculum Development
Let's be real - not all days are great but everyday is an opportunity to make the world a better place. I'm incredibly humbled and excited to be helping our clients meet their training needs. It's the hope that the training is not needed but on a day when it's needed, my goal is to ensure my students have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to know what to do to keep themselves and their coworkers as safe as reasonably possible in inherently high-hazard work environments. Each student I train and client I serve allows me to share knowledge and also grow professionally and personally.
It was either dumb-luck or divine intervention that I learned of my passion to serve and aptitude to teach others about emergency response related disciplines. I actually wouldn't have ever known it if I hadn't been looking for a "fun and easy" alternative for what I thought would be my "final year" at Texas A&M.
Little did I know that it wouldn't be "fun and easy" nor would it be my final year of attendance. But the memories made and experiences gained would be life-changing. It's humorous in hindsight to see that joining Texas A&M Emergency Care Team for the free training and a change of pace would change my career path and reveal gifts and skills I didn't realize I had.
Nearly 20 years later as an experienced emergency management professional, EMT, hazardous materials technician, and wildland firefighter - it's safe to say that one serendipitous decision in my undergraduate education made a profound difference in where I am today. It also motivates me to find the hidden talents and ways your employees can contribute to your organizations' greater good. Training them to respond isn't just a checkbox to me. It's an avenue for me to serve you and your organizations.
Fun fact about me: I never liked speaking or being in the spotlight as a child. An amazing few teachers, including a theater teacher in middle school showed me that leading with your passion could help you overcome shyness and stage fright. From wall-flower to CEO - quite an incredible transition. The best is yet to come though!
