October 2026

Pastor Appreciation Month: 

October is a month set aside to thank God for those he has placed as shepherds over his people, with Pastor Appreciation Day falling on October 11.

• • Pray for Your Pastor's Strength and Joy: Ask the Lord to guard your pastor from discouragement and weariness, and to renew in him the joy of shepherding God's people. 

"Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you." (Hebrews 13:17)

• • Pray for Your Pastor's Family: Lift up the spouses and children of pastors across our community, asking God to be their strength in the particular pressures that come with a life spent in ministry. 

"But my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)

Reformation Day: 

On October 31, we remember the recovery of the gospel truth that sinners are made right with God by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

• • Pray for Gospel Clarity: Ask the Lord to keep his church anchored to these essentials in every generation, so that grace is never traded for performance and faith is never confused with mere religious activity. 

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Ephesians 2:8–9)

• • Pray for Light in a Season of Darkness: As churches host trunk-or-treats and fall festivals this same week, pray that our neighbors would see something better than a culture eager to make light of darkness — that they would encounter real hope, real welcome, and a gospel worth staying for. 

"In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." (John 1:4–5)

Domestic Violence Awareness Month: 

October is set aside to bring attention to abuse happening behind closed doors in homes across our community, including within the church.

• • Pray for the Protection of the Vulnerable: Ask the Lord to shield those currently in danger, to give them courage to seek help, and to bring their situation into the light. 

"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18)

• • Pray for the Church to Respond Rightly: Pray that churches would be equipped to recognize abuse, believe those who disclose it, and pursue both the safety and the healing of the wounded rather than premature calls for reconciliation. 

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." (Psalm 147:3)

Praying Toward Election Day (November 3): 

As our nation approaches another election, we pray for the health of our shared life together.

• • Pray for Integrity in the Process: Ask the Lord to grant honesty and order to the election process, and wisdom and humility to those who will be entrusted with public office. 

"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way." (1 Timothy 2:1–2)

• • Pray for a Spirit of Cooperation: Ask God to give our community a posture of neighborliness across our differences — for the glory of the Lord and the good of our people, rather than division for its own sake. 

"But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare." (Jeremiah 29:7)

November 2026

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (November 1): 

Churches around the world set aside this day to remember believers who suffer for their faith.

• • Pray for Perseverance Under Pressure: Ask the Lord to strengthen believers facing imprisonment, violence, or social hostility because of their faith, that they would hold fast and find his grace sufficient. “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8–9)

  • Pray for Our Own Hearts to Remember: Ask God to keep us from forgetting our brothers and sisters simply because their suffering is far away. “Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.” (Hebrews 13:3)

Pray for Our Newly Elected Leaders: 

Following the November 3 election, we pray not for any particular outcome but for those who will now hold public trust.

• • Pray for Wisdom and Integrity: Ask the Lord to grant discernment and honesty to those taking or continuing in office, that they would govern justly and serve the good of the people. “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” (1 Timothy 2:1–2)

Orphan Sunday (November 8): 

A day to focus the church’s attention on children who need permanent, loving families.

• • Pray for Children Without Families: Ask the Lord to watch over children in foster care and awaiting adoption, and to settle the lonely in homes. “Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home.” (Psalm 68:5–6)

  • Pray for Foster and Adoptive Families: Ask God to strengthen and encourage families who have opened their homes, and to raise up more who would do the same. “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27)

Veterans Day (November 11): 

We give thanks for those who have served in the armed forces and pray for those still carrying the cost of that service.

• • Pray for Healing, Seen and Unseen: Ask the Lord to bring healing to veterans carrying physical wounds, and comfort to those carrying wounds no one else can see. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

  • Pray for Military Families: Lift up spouses and children who have borne their own sacrifice through deployments and absence, asking God to be their strength and refuge. “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge.” (Psalm 18:2)

Gospel Coloring Books for Christmas: 

This Christmas, coloring books sharing the nativity story will be distributed to children across our community as a simple, tangible way to put the good news of Christ’s birth into local homes.

• • Pray for Fruit from a Simple Seed: Ask the Lord to use this effort far beyond what it looks like — that a coloring book in a child’s hands would become a seed of faith in a family’s heart. “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose.” (Isaiah 55:11)

  • Pray for Families to Meet Christ: Ask God to draw children and parents alike to saving faith in Jesus through this simple telling of his birth. “And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’” (Luke 2:10–11)

Thanksgiving (November 26): 

As the month closes, we give God thanks for his provision and goodness over the past year.

• • Pray Specific Thanks, Not Generic Gratitude: Ask the Lord to help you name particular mercies rather than offering vague thankfulness, and let specific gratitude deepen your trust in him. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Do we choose a calendar day (e.g. the 5th of every month) or a recurring day (e.g. the second Tuesday of every month)?

We want there to be as few barriers to a church's participation in this endeavor as possible. Therefore, you are free to pick a day that works best for the culture of your church. There are strengths and weaknesses to either method of choosing a day.

What if the day that works best for our church/ministry is already taken?

Share the day! Though our goal is to see every day covered in prayer, we trust the Lord to raise up the right partners at the right time to achieve this goal. He owns all the days and none belong to a specific church. We pray that churches who share a day of prayer together will grow in fellowship with one another as they pray for each other on that day.

Is there a specific format that our church needs to follow?

No. We desire to be facilitators of prayer and not administrators. Therefore, apart from encouraging everyone to unite their hearts around the 6 broad prayer goals and any specific community needs each month, we want each church to organize its times of prayer as best fits its culture and patterns of prayer. That said, we are happy to help you establish your patterns of prayer in any way that we are able.
