Homework: The district recommends that 5th graders should have 50 minutes (10 min x grade level) of homework nightly. In Room 31, homework won’t typically equate to a direct nightly total. Our main homework will be the ongoing “4 Before Friday” and working toward the “Great Genre Challenge” reading goals. If homework ever takes more than 50 minutes, please reach out - I don’t want homework to become a battle in your home.
Occasionally I will assign other nightly work and, throughout the year, there will be projects to be completed at home.
Additionally, each weekend I like to assign a “home skill” that encourages students to contribute to their home, like laundry, cooking, cleaning, vacuuming, etc. Need anything done around the house? Let me know! 😉
Below you can find information about the Great Genre Challenge as well as some math resources that may be helpful. I will add tools here as the year goes on.
