WELCOME
I am a special education teacher and case manager here at MT. I have worked in the Londonderry School District for over 25 years. My current position is working in the Student Support Center. The goal of the Student Support Center is to assist students in learning new strategies for coping with stressors that impact their school progress (academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally).
Winter Blues
With less light, less time to be outside, and less activity, winter is a time when many incuding children experience Seasonal Affect Disorder (SAD). SAD comes in different levels. Even if you don't have a diagnosis of SAD you probably experience some syptoms that impact your mood, energy level, sleep habits, appetite, social/emotional well being, and/or cognitive thinking. You may even show an increase irritability and moodiness.
Simple things like going outside for 5-10 minutes a day can help. Or even do 10 minuutes a day of indoor walking helps. Listen to music, talk to a friend, or paint or color. These are activities that will help lift your spirits and keep your mood more stable.
