Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to fifth grade! I was able to meet most of you in June on step up day. I just wanted to send a letter with a quick update with some supplies and such. I know stores are starting to put out supplies and things are on sale.
A little about me: I have been teaching for 24 years. I live in Merrimack, NH with my husband Russ, who is a physical education teacher and my two boys, Brady who is 17 years old going to into his senior year in high school and Bryce who is 14 years old going into his freshman year in high school. We spend a lot of time on the soccer fields and basketball courts and we love our summers together.
Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include math, reading, writing, science and social studies. Of course, there are specials as well. You’ll have P.E, art, music, library, and STEM
We are very lucky as we will be having a student intern from Saint Anselm College, Julia Marsden, she will be with us from the first day of school until mid-December. As I explain to Julia, every adult in my classroom is a teacher. I am sure that the students will notice that we both teach together, sometimes it will be just me teaching and there will be a few weeks when it is just Julia. If you notice some things may be different that may be why but please reach out with any questions or concerns. I never tell the students that an intern is an intern, students show more respect to the interns I have found when they think we are both the teachers.
As for supplies, I am including our supply list that I handed out on step up day. The sooner the supplies come in the better.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact me at e-mail (the best/quickest way to reach me) is kcardin@londonderry.org.
Once again, welcome to 5th grade. I’ll forward to seeing you all on the first day of school. Let’s work together to make this the best year ever!
Sincerely,
Kristy Cardin
