Here is a link to the Londonderry School District Elementary Curriculum Hub. It has all sorts of resources about our district curriculum goals.
Math is a core subject. Studying mathematics gives children the opportunity to grow and develop their critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and analytical skills.
This school year, we are continuing to use the Math in Focus program.
Reading, writing, and word study skills are intertwined. Students need all of them to become strong readers, writers, and communicators.
In third grade, we build on and expand the work that children did in the earlier grades with decoding, fluency, critical thinking, and comprehension.
This year we are using the Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) curriculum.
Writing is an important component of literacy. While writing, children build critical communication skills. As students improve their writing skills, they also become stronger in all aspects of literacy, including reading. Every day, students will be practicing their writing skills. We will practice writing narratives, opinion pieces, non-fiction research, multi-genre projects and more!
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is an important component of child development and education. Social and Emotional Learning empowers children to recognize, manage, and communicate their emotions. They learn to empathize and to interact with others in positive and constructive ways. These are important skills for school and for life.
We are incorporating Choose Love and Morning Meeting in our day as part of our Social and Emotional Learning.
