What is "sacred time"?- Sacred time refers to dedicated periods of instruction that are protected where all students are present in their classrooms. Sacred time ensures that all students have consistent opportunities to access and engage in grade level content and learning experiences.Â
Why "sacred time" and access to grade level material is important-
Equity in Learning Opportunities: Exposing all students to grade-level content ensures they are not held back by assumptions about their abilities. It helps to close achievement gaps by providing all students, regardless of their starting point, access to rigorous and challenging material.
Skill Development: Engaging with grade-level content supports the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic skills necessary for future success. Grade-level content provides the foundation for subsequent learning. Missing this content can create gaps that compound over time.
Building Confidence: When students successfully engage with challenging material, they gain confidence in their abilities, fostering a growth mindset.
