Brave Early College Academy (B.E.C.A)
The Brave Early College Academy cultivates resilient, motivated, and academically prepared students who are ready to thrive in postsecondary education and beyond.
This program expands access to college-level learning by creating a supportive, inclusive pathway for students to earn both a high school diploma and complete Cal-GETC requirements, all within four years. Through a purposeful partnership with Allan Hancock College, students are able to take high school, Dual Enrollment, and High School Enrichment (formerly known as College Now!) courses that are transferable to University of California and California State University campuses.
With the dedicated support of staff from LHS and Allan Hancock College, students move through the program together as a cohort, building confidence, academic skills, and college readiness. Designed with equity at its core, this pathway removes barriers, increases access to transferable coursework, and empowers students to see themselves as capable, successful college-bound scholars.
If student does not meet the expectations listed above, they may be placed on Academic Probation and may need to reapply.
Students in the Brave Early College Academy are:
Motivated to challenge themselves academically
Willing to engage in college‑level expectations
Supported by intentional advising and monitoring
Developing time management, study, and self‑advocacy skills
Students are expected to commit to the program for four years. Program starts the Summer of Freshmen year and into their Senior year.
B.E.C.A includes taking classes at Lompoc High School and Allan Hancock College.
Dual enrollment courses: College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP courses) are taught on our campus, during our regular bell schedule. These classes are taught by Lompoc High School staff. These Courses are free.
Students will also be committed to taking High School Enrichment (formerly knows as College Now!) Courses at Allan Hancock College campus or online during the Summer, Fall or Spring. These classes are taught by Allan Hancock College staff. Summer classes are 8 weeks long, Spring and Fall classes are 8 to 16 weeks long.
Everyone's pathway can vary.
Lompoc High School offers a variety of supports for students. Lompoc High School has a designated Dual Enrollment Counselor: Mrs. Lara; she is located in the Career Center and will be checking in frequently and creating workshops to support B.E.C.A scholars.

Courses being offered in Brave Early College Academy (B.E.C.A) follow Cal-GETC requirements; they are transferable to the University of California (UC's) and California State Universities (CSU's). We cannot guarantee that they are transferable to out of state universities. Students will need to reach out to specific out of state universities and have their transcripts evaluated by that college/university.
