Mrs. Duncan's Class

What a joy and a privilege it is to be able to work with your children this year. This will be my fifteenth year of teaching. I started out my teaching career in Northern Virginia where I had the privilege of teaching fourth grade for both Fairfax and Loudoun County Public Schools. After moving to Kentucky six years ago, I taught fourth grade for three years for Warren County Public Schools in Bowling Green and have been blessed to teach here at Chandler's the past two years.

In case you haven't guessed it yet, I absolutely love teaching fourth grade! This year I will have the privilege of being your child's math and science teacher. In math, your children will learn to be "pattern sniffers." They will be given the opportunity to notice, describe, and generalize patterns as they explore various mathematical concepts. In science, they will begin to notice and wonder about the world around them as they enter a journey of exploration and discovery while being empowered to become problem solvers.

My desire for your child this year is to experience the joy of learning. A Chinese Proverb states, "I hear, and I forget. I see, and I remember. I do, and I understand." My goal for each and every one of my students is that they will experience true learning. By the time a student leaves my class, I want them to know that they have value and worth and that they were creatively designed for a specific purpose. I want them to celebrate who they are as a person and experience the same joy I have experienced in getting to know them as a unique and extraordinary individual. I am thrilled to be part of the Chandler's family and hope to pass on a legacy of enthusiasm for learning to your child.
