Hello! Welcome back to school and welcome to the library! I am excited for a new school year! I hope your child will take the opportunity to explore the many wonderful books our library has to offer! I wanted to update students and parents on some policies and procedures that pertain to our school library concerning book check-out and student responsibilities…
ALL Students- All students K-8 can keep a book for two weeks before it is marked “overdue’ or late. Any student who has an overdue or late book will not be able to check out another book until the overdue book is returned, or paid for, if lost. Overdue notices are sent home with students periodically throughout the year. If a book is lost, it needs to be replaced—either with the same exact copy of the book or with the amount of money it would cost to replace it. If you pay for a book and it is later found, I keep a record of who has paid, and will do my best to return the money to you.
Kindergarten-These students will spend the first few weeks of school learning about taking care of library books, what “borrowing” books from the library means, and so on. After that, they will be allowed to check out one paperback book on their regular library visit. If they bring it back the following week, then they may check out another one.
1st-3rd Grade-These students will continue learning more and more about using the library and taking care of books. They will continue checking out one book (paperback or hardback) at a time during their regular library visits.
4th-8th Grade-These students will be learning more about using the library for research and finding books they love to read! They will be able to check out two books at a time either during their regular library visits with their activity class or during open library times, with their teacher’s permission.

Logan County Schools and the Logan County Public Library have teamed up to provide every K-12 student a free BLAST card! The cards are similar to the current LCPL cards.
This is what the BLAST cards will look like!
