Leonard Bernstein Recipient 2020

Jaydin Madriaga

Jaydin Madriaga was a clarinetist who performed in our Wind Ensemble for two years (2018-2020) and served as Band President throughout the 2019-20 school year. As a performer, Jaydin earned second chair two years in a row in the SJCOE County Honor Band, second chair in the NCBA All-Northern Band and a scholarship to the Cazadero Performing Arts Camp. She was also involved in the CMMS Jazz Ensemble, the Valley Community Orchestra and various chamber groups which performed at little league games and more.

Jaydin was a pioneer for our program as one of the first students accepted into the NCBA All-Northern Honor Band. She was also a remarkable leader whose positive approach naturally commanded respect from her section and her ensemble. She demanded the best of herself at all times, and this inspired her ensemble to achieve the highest level of community and performance the program had ever seen. Her leadership effectively created the "band family" we are today, and she helped to start many of the traditions we hold dear today (including the end of the year slideshow, Secret Santa, Winter and Spring Showcase, and much more). Jaydin went out of her way to help and to give back to others, making her beloved across the entire music department.

On behalf of the CMMS Music Department, congratulations on all of your accomplishments and thank you for the wonderful legacy you have left behind for our program.
