Hi! I'm Lauren Crook, and I'm excited to be part of the Bear Creek community. This will be my fourth year teaching here, and I currently teach AP Language and Composition and Ninth grade English. I'm passionate about helping students grow as readers, writers, and thinkers.
In addition to teaching, I work as a reader for the College Board, where I score AP Language and Composition essays each summer. It gives me a unique perspective and first-hand knowledge of the the skills students need to successfully pass the AP Lang exam.
Before becoming a teacher, I spent about 10 years as a truck driver. That experience taught me a lot about hard work, perseverance, and the importance of good communication—skills I now bring into the classroom.
Outside of school, I stay busy with my family and numerous hobbies. My 20-year-old son recently joined the military, and I couldn’t be more proud. I have a dog and love spending time outdoors camping and hiking. I also enjoy crafting-creating custom projects like wreaths and t-shirts, and enjoy adding this creativity into the courses I teach.
One quote that guides me as a teacher and as a person comes from Maya Angelou:

I strive to create a classroom where every student feels seen, respected, and encouraged to grow.
