The mission of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Program (AFJROTC) is to "Develop citizens of character, dedicated to serving their nation and community." The program is designed to teach high school students about aerospace age and its history while developing more informed citizens. The program also strives to strengthen character, promote understanding of the concept of the "citizen Airman," help develop a sense of patriotism, and promote the students' understanding for the need and benefit of self-discipline, teamwork, and community spirit. There is NO military obligation incurred by any cadet for joining AFJROTC.
