The LAC collaboration integrates Mathematics, Geography, Science, and English through a unified focus on solid waste management and environmental conservation. Students begin in Mathematics by recording, organizing, and visualizing waste disposal data using some statistical charts. Moving to Geography, they analyze the spatial distribution and proportion of solid waste in Hong Kong, identifying food waste as the main contributor to landfill saturation. Next, in Science, students examine the conversion of organic waste into bioenergy via anaerobic digestion, learning how chemical energy turns into heat and electricity. Finally, in the English writing task, students synthesize this cross-disciplinary knowledge by writing a restaurant review or reflecting on eco-friendly dining habits. They incorporate mathematical and geographical terms alongside scientific vocabulary and descriptive English vocabulary to express informed, persuasive ideas about sustainable food consumption and environmental action.
