Mrs. Gitlin

6th Grade Dean

Hi Timberwolves!

My name is Mrs. Kristin Gitlin and I am extremely excited to start my sixth year at Trailside! I am the 7th grade dean this year at TMS and am excited to continue working with this group of students. Before becoming dean I taught four years of math at Trailside (Math 6 to most recently Algebra I). Prior to becoming a Timberwolf I taught 7th grade math for 5 years at Seneca Ridge Middle School. I grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated from Stone Bridge High School (Go Bulldogs!), then moved to Columbia, South Carolina for college. I graduated from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Middle School Education. The summer of 2017 I graduated from Shenandoah University with my Masters Degree in Educational Administration.

When I'm not at work I love hanging out with my husband and son, playing sports, exploring new places with my family and friends, and playing with my dog, Toby! I have played both soccer and basketball since I was a kid and continue to play soccer now. In college I learned to play volleyball, softball, and flag football. I enjoy golfing in the spring time and snowboarding when the winter weather cooperates. In the fall I love to attend USC and Redskin football games whenever I can! I am also a huge fan of the Nationals, Wizards, and the Capitals!

This year I hope to continue to build connections with each 7th grader by supporting them with their interests, such as clubs, sports, music, and other activities. I enjoy helping students both academically and behaviorally, and look forward to seeing the progress each student will make this year. My hope for all of the 7th graders this year is that they are able to become leaders through their kindness and altruism so that they may leave a fantastic legacy here at Trailside!
