The Locke School works with Bank Street College of Education to insure children who attend our school have the social and emotional supports to fully engage in learning.  We use Lesley Koplow's Bears, Bears Everywhere!: Supporting Children's Emotional Health in the Classroom  to guide our social-emotional teaching in the early years. 

All children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade care for a bear throughout the school year to help support their social and emotional development. Teachers integrate the bears into the curriculum to help children connect to their feelings and express them in constructive ways.

The Locke School first introduced KIBO in our Engineering Lab, and has since added Dash and Dot, and Ozobot robots.  Our robotic opportunities give our students a chance to learn computer science in an easy and fun, at all grade levels, sparking even our youngest learners to gain an interest in STEAM.

In September 2021, the Upper Engineering Lab was outfitted with two new Makerbot Sketch 3D printers, allowing our students to realize their ideas from concept to reality. Students work in Tinkercad and finally 3D print their designs.

Each year students in various grades learn photography and stop-motion animation with Magic Box.  The program, aligned with the Common Core Standards, give K–12 students access to new technologies and opportunities for creative expression.
