For the first time in over a decade, two Arroyo Grande wrestlers open the season with a top 20 ranking. Isaac Maez is ranked #13 at 182 and Mason Garcia is ranked #20 at 195. Garcia went on to open his season with a first place finish at the Clovis West Shootout while Maez finished second, falling to the #2 state ranked wrestler from Bakersfield.
As a team, the Eagles finished a respectable 6th in a field that included top ranked Buchanan, #5 Gilroy, #6 Clovis North, and #8 Bakersfield.
Also placing were freshman Nate Come', 108, 2nd; Sophomore Gabriel Rivera, 113, 6th, Junior Sebastian De Leon, 126 6th, Junior AJ Fragoso, 160, 4th.

Coming out of Masters, where the Eagles placed 13th as a team, 3 wrestlers advanced to the state championships. Isaac Kephart 134, 10th, Isaac Maez 184 6th, and Mason Garcia, 197, 5th.
State Meet update.. Tough , but inspiring and learning, experience for all. Kephart 0-2, Maez 1-2, Garcia 0-2.
After a tough loss, 43-24 to Righetti on January 9, the Eagles beat Atascadero, and Paso Robles 51-27 to finish the inaugural Mountain League season in second place. This season was the first time in nearly a dozen years that Arroyo Grande beat Pioneer Valley, Paso Robles, and Atascadero in the same year.
Isaac Maez and Mason Garcia finished those matches 4-0. Isaiah Apodaca, Coleman Hubert, Isaac Kephart, Levi Frey, and Rivaldo Arrellano all finished 3-1.
January 18-19. Isaac Maez at 184 placed 6th and Mason Garcia(197) took 8th place to lead the Eagles to a 18th place team finish at the 91 team California Invitational tournament. Levi Frey, Isaac Kephart, AJ Fragoso all finished in the final 12, one match away from placing.

In a narrow 36-33 victory, the Eagles overcame an early 15-30 deficit with pins from AJ Fragoso (170), Isaac Maez (182) and Mason Garcia (220). In addition Arroyo Grande got pins from Coleman Hubert (120) and Levi Frey (152), and important wins from Henry Catalan (145) and Russell Farrell (195). It was the first victory over PV in over a dozen years.

The Eagles made their first trip to the California Classic at Reedley High School and came away with the team title. Each wrestler had at least one win, and each one mattered as the team narrowly held off Morro Bay for the championship 229-223 pts. Highland High of Bakersfield was third with 178 pts.
Champions for the Eagles - Isaac Kephart, 138 lbs, Isaac Maez, 170 lbs, Mason Garcia 195 lbs.
Runner-up - AJ Fragoso, 160 lbs
Third place: Coleman Hubert, 120 lbs and Levi Frey, 145 lbs
Fourth place: Henry Catalan, 145 lbs.
