What is Fall Polo? - The Fall season is our high school season. Our team comprises a varsity training group and a JV training group. We will inform athletes of their group on the first day, but the schedule remains flexible for the first couple of weeks of practice, which serves as our "tryout" period. Our varsity group will be reduced to about 14 players during this tryout period. We do not make cuts at the JV level. See Tryout info for more info.
Training groups and game day rosters are flexible, and we will adjust depending on the opponent or event. Our goal is always to maximize each athlete's playing time and development in both practices and games. Being in the varsity training group does not guarantee that an athlete will play varsity on game days. I try to categorize players into three tiers when making evaluations to project playing time- and they are projections based on what I have seen from an athlete so far in their career...those projections can change throughout a season :
Clearance: all athletes must be cleared to participate in athletics through Home Campus. This must happen before an athlete can practice. Instructions can be found on the AGHS Athletics Page or at this link:
Expectations - Athletes are expected to attend all events and practices. If a athlete misses a practice playing time/starting will be affected.
Schedules: As many of you know, the sport of water polo tends to be consistently inconsistent regarding scheduling. I do my best to communicate the schedule quickly and accurately. Below are the outlines of general practice schedules and our current game schedule for you. I also have the Google calendar below, which we used for the summer. Each week, usually on Friday, I will send out a more detailed and up-to-date schedule for the upcoming week via email and Parent Square.
Parent Involvement: Parents, we will need your help this year. We want to continue to have a parent-run concession stand. This would help get a profit from the front gate, and the kids would not eat the food. I'll send out information for shift sign-up when we get closer to the events.
Fundraising: We will be doing an online fundraiser this year. MORE INFO TO COME! This Donation helps cover team gear, equipment costs, hotel fees, and other program expenses. If you have any concerns about donating the money, please don’t hesitate to email me. You will donate to the school website and the AGHS website. 300 for Varsity Athletes + 90 For Suit, JV Athletes 250 + 90 for Team Suit
Suits: Team suits are available via the team store, which will be online via Kap 7 Water Polo. Information will be sent in the summer and at the start of the fall season.
Communication: It is the athlete's responsibility, not the parent's, to communicate with the coaches regarding playtime, missed workouts, expectations, and future opportunities.
