All About Mrs. Abramson
Mrs. Abramson grew up in a small town in upstate New York. She earned her degree in Elementary Education at Elizabethtown College with a minor in Theater. After college, Mrs. Abramson packed up her stuff, left her family and decided to try out a whole new state. She moved to Montgomery County, and after a year of substitute teaching in Upper Dublin, she got a job teaching 7th grade at Lower Moreland. Mrs. Abramson enjoyed the challenge of the seventh graders, but knew in her heart that she was meant to teach younger children. The following year, Mrs. Abramson moved down to 4th grade where she taught for 8 years. After that she taught 2nd grade for 7 years. This school year will be teaching 4th grade again, and she is looking forward to it.
When Mrs. Abramson isn't in the classroom, she is at the High School directing the fall drama, and running Drama Club. She directs the High School drama play which is performed in November, and also the musical which is performed in March. This year the fall drama is "Steel Magnolias."
Mrs. A also directs the Pine Road Drama Club here at Pine Road with Mrs. Eisenman. We will be putting on another 5th grade musical in the spring. The club was all started because of a very persuasive letter from a 4th grader, and former student of Mrs. Abramson's named Ellie.
Mrs. Abramson earned her Master's Degree in Education from Gratz College. Her Master's thesis research project focused on how performing in a school play affects a child's behavior and self esteem. The project had excellent results showing that this type of activity had an overall positive effect on a child's self concept, self esteem, and overall attitude toward school. She enjoyed the research and found it very rewarding.
Mrs. Abramson lives with her husband Dave and her two daughters Penelope (8) and Evelyn (5) in Doylestown.
Teaching is Mrs. Abramson's passion. She couldn't see herself doing anything else. It is not just a job to her, it is her life! She loves to share her joy of teaching and learning with all her students throughout the years. Learning together, and sharing in those glorious "aha!" moments is what it is all about!
