The Manor
I remember that night like it was yesterday. It all began when I stepped foot on The Manor. Before I could advance further, I saw its horrid, rotten head peeking out from the shadows. It seemed to have told me to depart many times, but I refused to listen. In a split second, it leaped out from the darkness forcing me to make a getaway. I bolted towards my house, but I was not quick enough. I sped through the woods jumping over twigs and rocks. That was however… until it caught me.

Courage and Confidence
My heart pounded out in fear. I was too nervous.
“You’re next up!” the announcer said.
“Is it hot in here?” I said anxiously.
“Layla, it’s going to be fine! You’re going to kill this speech! Show your classmates why you should be class president!” Abi cheered.
I can’t live without Abi. We’re like two completely different peas in a pod. We are inseparable.
“Soon, you’ll be class president! And I’ll be your vice president! Together, we will help make this school a better place!”
“Next up, Layla running for class president! And her vice president, Abi!” yelled the announcer.
Oh no. It was my turn. As I walked onto the stage, Abi stopped me. She linked her arm with mine, and smiled. She was always there for me. We strutted out on stage together as our classmates cheered. Suddenly, a sense of relief fell over me. Abi was right, everything was okay. I took a deep breath, and walked up to the podium.
I closed my eyes, and started to talk. “Hello. I am Layla. Some of you know me as a friend, acquaintance, or just classmate in general.” I said confidently. People were watching me with support, and Abi was right there next to me.
Soon, I was done. I finished my speech with a confident smile. Everything was okay. Clapping faded into my ears, and never stopped. As I walked off stage with Abi, the crowd continued. I did it. We did it.
Weeks had passed, and the announcement was made.
“Our president for our class of 2030 is Layla, with her vice president, Abi!” the announcer said.
Abi and I jumped into each other's arms and smiled. We were always there for each other. We did it.
