About the Play

Valley TLC students began preparing for this performance on September 29th - writing, staging, and rehearsing an entire production in just 36 days! Learn more about the play and the production process below.

A Day in the Life unfolds as a series of seven comedic skits, following a group of friends as they go through a typical day at Welsh Valley Middle School. The play takes us from waking up to falling back sleep, showcasing everything in between.

Writing

TLC students wrote the script and stage directions for this year's production from September 27 - October 7. Students worked in writing teams to develop the ideas, characters, and plot lines you will see on stage.

Stage Design

Stage Design students worked during the month of October to create, build, and organize all of the visual components featured in the show. Below you will find images of the sets created by the student artists.

Music

Welsh Valley 7th grader Chase Hui produced the music you hear both during the skits and its transitions.

Skit 1 - Waking Up

Whitaker (Soren Barash) wakes up late for school and accidentally misses the bus. He must find a different way to get there without being late.

Skit 2 - Homeroom

We find ourselves in Mr. Gamsberg's (David Campbell) 7th grade homeroom, where Kari (Naomi Crookham) is still getting used to her new school. The morning announcements set the stage for an eventful Thursday as the students prepare for the day's classes and extracurricular activities.

Skit 3 - Math Class

Kari (Naomi Crookham) has been assigned to a 7th grade math class and is nervous about being in a class with new people. Her teacher Mr. ScaGari (Gabriel Newsome) has received some unsettling news from Principal Hallway (Arava Brodetzki).

Skit 4 - Lunch

It's National Sandwich Day and the cafeteria is serving special meals in celebration. The students try to chat about school life, but are interrupted by a revolving cast of characters.

Skit 5 - Music Class

Mr. ScaGari (Gabriel Newsome) is back - but this time in music class. Unsure of what to do, he expertly crafts a project after talking with two twin students (Matilda Marrone & Liora Bar-Or).

Skit 6 - Soccer Practice

The Welsh Valley soccer coaches (Jonas Berger & Oscar Garfield) have a brilliant idea to beat Black Rock - a goalie who can score a goal from in goal. The only problem? The team doesn't have a goalie.

Skit 7 - Sleep

Sam (Makayla Purdie) is getting ready for sleep while talking to her friends online. The group reminisces on the day's events as Sam's family urges her to get some sleep.
